The U.S. American MWV Corporation invests a new Heidelberg printing press in its largest European folding carton plant in Graz, Austria.
The machine with the incredible shortcut Speedmaster XL 106-10 LYYL (X3 ) UV HD Log.Plus (75 x 106 cm) having a length of 30.6 m, will be Austria’s longest 3b press with double-coater. Along with additional die-cutting and hot foil stamping equipment this investment totals around 5 Million EUR.
The new Speedmaster XL is not only equipped with state-of-the-art technology reducing setup times and increasing productivity; it also ensures constant top print quality and highest ergonomic standards. “In addition, its high energy efficiency and innovative add-on features made it an attractive option", explains Peter Szabó, Managing Director of MWV Graz GmbH, the purchasing decision. The high productivity is achieved by the perfect interaction between Prinect Press CenterTM, the high-performance press control system, the Preset Plus feeder and Autoplate XL, the automatic simultaneous plate changing device. Built on an 875 mm high foundation with full UV configuration, the press is designed for today’s high end packaging printing.
More and more sophisticated designs with pictorial health warnings on tobacco packaging and shorter product life cycles require up to 10 colors, various coating options and flexibility. The increasing complexity together with smaller batch sizes justifies this recent investment. "This is definitely another milestone in our development," Peter Szabó says. "This press strengthens our capabilities in Graz and allows us to grow ". The new machine like the entire fleet is equipped with food-grade lubricants and will print with mineral oil free inks only.
