PulPaper is one of the most influential events for the global pulp, paper, board, converting and bio based industries. This year is the 8th edition of the event and also the 100th anniversary of the Paper Engineers' Association, which will be celebrated in style with a spectacular gala evening.

Last time for the PulPaper was 2010, then 625 exhibitors and over 12000 visitors from 63 countries participated. Since the start in 1987, PulPaper has grown into one of the highest regarded meeting places for the industry.

– Despite the economical slowdown, the last event was very successful. We are now looking forward to the incoming 2014 event being better then ever, offering an exhibition with many new features, a strong conference programme and last but not least the celebration of PI’s 100th anniversary, says Marcus Bergström, CEO Adforum.

An important part of the conference programme and running alongside the main conference is the 29th International Mechanical Pulping Conference (IMPC). IMPC is a scientific conference, which circulates between the different continents. Unlike PulPaper, which always is held in the Messukeskus Expo and Convention Centre, in Helsinki.

New features

In this years edition of the event several new features can be found on the exhibition floor, for example will the paper producing companies, for the first time, be present at the exhibition floor.

– New for this year is the Paper Square, a stage and exhibition area where participants of the event will have the opportunity to meet the pulp, paper and board producing companies of Metsä Group, UPM, Stora Enso and SAPPI, says Kristin McKechnie, Communications Manager, Adforum.

From a stage and exhibition area in the middle of the hall top management and experts from these four companies will update participants of the PulPaper event on trends and news in the industry and give their view and input on the industry's future and development.

Unique for this year’s edition is the spectacular celebration and gala evening in the Helsinki Music Centre because of the 100th anniversary of Paper Engineers Association.

Another new feature is the PulPaper After Work.

BioFuture for Mankind

The main theme of the PulPaper 2014 Conference is BioFuture for Mankind, describing not only the global importance of bioeconomy, but also its effect on every human being. And one of the most important questions asked during the conference will be: “What can we offer the 2 billion living on less than 2 dollars a day?”

– Based on the European vision 2050 for the bioforest industry, this time we offer the most groundbreaking international conference focusing on future bioforest issues. In connection to the conference visitors have a unique opportunity to see the only foam forming pilot machine in the world by attending the excursion to VTT Jyväskylä, says Pirkko Molkentin-Matilainen, president and CEO of PI Paper Engineers Association.

Also new for PulPaper 2014 is that large focus is put on attracting visitors from Russia. And therefore, a version of the official website, a landing page, has been set up in russian to accomodate the large amount of potential Russian visitors.
