Cham Paper Group will not sell its Italian paper mills in Carmignano and Condino to Austrian Delfort Group as announced in July, according to Euwid Pulp and Paper.
The cancellation is due to unsuccessful negotiations between Delfort Group and employee representatives in Carmignano in respect to future employee contract conditions.
The two Italian mills will remain under the ownership of Cham Paper Group.
Thanks to restructuring measures the company considers itself well-positioned in the market. The two sites have a combined capacity of 130,000 tpy of specialty paper including flexible packaging paper, coated label paper and base paper for labels and silicone release paper for graphic applications.
Cham Paper Group’s Swiss operations will remain unaffected by the aborted sale of the two Italian mills.
The company also reported that Marcello di Giacomo, general manager of the two Italian mills who joined Cham Paper Group a year ago, will leave the company.
