Metsä Tissue has announced plans to upgrade one of the two paper machines at the company's Raubach mill in Germany.
The cost of the project was not disclosed.
The upgrade is expected to increase product quality and the machine's capacity, and improve the energy efficiency of tissue paper production.
"Between 2007 and 2012, we have reduced our energy use company-wide by 20 percent. By 2020, our aim is to improve our energy efficiency by further 10 percent,” said Christoph Zeiler, SVP, Tissue, Western Europe.
Toscotec has been chosen as the main supplier of the paper machine upgrade and that the project will be handled on a turnkey basis, including engineering, full installation, start-up and training, Metsa Tissue said.
Metsä Tissue expects to complete the project by the end of 2013.
