Due to market weakness, Arctic Paper plans to reduce its workforce and production capacity at its Mochenwangen facility in Germany. The company said it will shut down PM 1, the smallest of the three machines at the integrated Mochenwangen paper mill.

The move is expected to result in the elimination of 14 of around 200 jobs.

PM 1 has a capacity of 15,000-18,000 tpy and was used mainly to produce mechanical book paper.

As quoted by Euwid, managing director Lothar Burchardt said that PM1 is the least profitable paper machine out of three at the Mochenwangen paper mill and should therefore permanently be shut down as quickly as possible.
