Södra sells its Follafoss mill to Mayr-Melnhof Karton

Sodra announces that it has sold all shares in Sodra Cell Folla AS and consequently Sodra's pulp mill in Follafoss in Norway to Mayr-Melnhof Karton.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In August of 2012 Sodra Cell announced its decision to divest the Follafoss pulp mill.

Production at the mill stopped at the end of October/beginning of November 2012 and talks with potential buyers got under way towards the end of December.

The pulp mill in Follafoss manufactures CTMP pulp (chemi-thermomechanical pulp) and has a capacity of just over 100,000 tonnes per year.

The Mayr-Melnhof Group, headquartered in Vienna, is the largest producer of coated recycled cardboard with a growing position in virgin fibre-based board as well as the leading European manufacturer of folding cartons.
