Stora Enso to speed implementation of Chinese project

Stora Enso plans to accelerate negotiations with the Chinese government about building a plant in the in Guangxi province, which is expected to be one of the largest paper mills in the country.

Currently the implementation of the project is delayed, due to the lack of the necessary licenses. In this regard, Jouko Karvinen, Executive Director of the company, plans to discuss this issue with the Chinese government. Karvinen is currently part of a business delegation, accompanying Finland’s President Sauli Niinistö on his trip to China.

According to Chinese media reports, one of the reasons of delay of the implementaton of the project is its critics by local environmental organizations. However, according to Carvin, the project - not in danger, and the mill will be built. It is planned that the new plant will become the largest industrial investment of Finland for the whole history of the country.
