UK: Saica inaugurates new paper machine

The Spanish manufacturer Saica recently inaugurated a new paper machine, PM 11, in Partington in the UK. The mill is a state of the art, 7.5 meter wide paper machine, and it will operate at speeds of up to 1500m/min. This will produce top quality, high performance, performance containerboard (in the 75-125 gsm range). By way of illustration, the paper produced by PM 11 in 3,5 hours, would cover the full distance between Partington and London (196 miles).

The new mill started operations on 15 January 2012, according to Euwid Pulp and Paper

Saica has invested around £500m in the UK since its first acquisition of three corrugated plants from International Paper in 2006. In 2008, the company purchased 19 corrugated plants from SCA and undertook a £66m investment and restructuring programme.
