According to The Chronicle Journal, the Indian group Aditya Birla Group will resume production of traditional pulp at the Terrace Bay pulp mill in Canada.
The idle plant, formerly operated by a Buchanan Group subsidiary which became insolvent, was taken over in July by India’s Aditya Birla Group.
The mill is expected to start up again by the end of October, although workers are still waiting for an exact start-up date, according to union officials.
“My understanding is that (the plant) is on track and that it’s been a beehive of activity in there,” steelworkers staff representative Herb Daniher says, as quoted by The Chronicle Journal.
