Nippon Paper completes kraft paper production project at Kushiro Mill in Japan

Nippon Paper Industries announces that it has completed a production related project at its Kushiro Mill (Kushiro, Hokkaido, Japan) that is designed to improve quality and operational measures for the production of kraft paper.

According to Nippon Paper, construction began last fall to transfer the production of kraft paper from Fuji Mill (Fuji, Shizuoka) to Kushiro Mill in accordance with the compnay's plan to revitalize the paper business, which was announced on August 3, 2011.

With an investment of about 2.4 billion yen, a range of construction work was undertaken, including the refurbishment of the DIP facilities, the establishment of facilities to respond to heavy-duty packages of kraft paper with a focus on quality, and the reinforcement of the finishing facilities, Nippon Paper said in a statement.

The Kushiro Mill now has the capacity to produce around 52,000 tons of kraft paper every year.
