Prices for both pulpwood and sawlogs increased slightly during the second quarter in Sweden according to the latest quarterly statistics published by Swedish Forest Agency.
Pulpwood prices rose by four per cent while sawlog prices rose by two percent in the second quarter of 2018 compared to the first quarter of 2018.
Statistics also show that price increases differ from north to south where the largest price increases are found in Central Region. Pulpwood prices rose by three percent in the Northern Region, while prices rose by six percent in Central Region and by two percent in Southern Region.
Sawlog prices show very small changes and rose by one percent in Central Region while the remained unchanged in both the Southern and Northern Regions.
Compared with the same quarter last year, increases are higher. The prices of pulpwood rose by 12 percent compared to second quarter 2017.Pulpwood prices rose by six percent in Northern Region, and by 13 and 12 percent in Central and Southern Regions respectively. Compared with the second quarter of 2017, sawlog prices rose by seven percent. Sawlog prices rose by five percent in the Northern Region, by six percent in the Central Region and by seven percent in the Southern Region.
