DS Smith is expanding its presence in Southeastern Europe. The company recently announced the acquisition of integrated containerboard and corrugated packaging manufacturers Ecopack and Ecopaper for €208m.
The transaction, which is still subject to regulatory approvals, is scheduled to be completed within DS Smith's third quarter which ends on 31 January 2018, according to Euwid.
Ecopack manufactures packaging products for the local fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) market and has an annual production capacity of 120,000 m². Ecopaper produces containerboard at its paper mill in Zarnesti near Brasov. The mill's capacity amounts to 350,000 tpy.
