Yesterday, Cascades inaugurated its new state-of-the-art, 284,000-square-foot tissue converting facility in Scappoose, Oregon .
The Governor of Oregon , Kate Brown , and the Chief Executive Officer of Cascades, Mario Plourde , were joined by dignitaries, partners, customers, suppliers and employees for the much awaited event.
The plant will employ 80 people once the work is finished. It will manufacture virgin and recycled bathroom tissue products and paper hand towels for the Away from Home market. The unit will be supplied by the Cascades tissue paper plant located 12 kilometers away in St. Helens, Oregon creating considerable synergies.
The new plant's production capacity will be close to six million cases per year, or approximately 53,000 tonnes of finished product.
Founded in 1964, Cascades produces, converts and markets packaging and tissue products that are composed mainly of recycled fibres. The Company employs 11,000 employees, who work in close to 90 production units located in North America and Europe .
