The Confederation of European Paper Indus-tries (CEPI) has released preliminary figures for 2018, indicating that Europe’s paper and board production reached 92.2 million tonnes.
„2018 saw new capacities coming on stream but also closures. Com-bined with the upgrade of existing machines, this translated in a net capacity increase of 1.3 million tonnes,” the industry association said in its report.
The market figures were collected for Austria, Belgium, Czech Re-public, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Nor-way, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
CEPI comprises 18 national associations representing some 495 companies which operate more than 900 pulp and paper mills across Europe, according to data from the Brussels-based association.
