Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is closing its converting plant in Richmond, Virginia, resulting in the loss of 110 jobs, effective June, Packaging Gateway reports.
The decision to shut down the Richmond plant follows downsizing in Washington state.
In 2025, PCA announced it would permanently idle the No. 2 paper machine and kraft pulping operations at its mill in Wallula, Washington, a step that led to 200 job cuts.
According to Packaging Gateway, the company has been investing in other parts of its network, including plants it acquired from Greif in 2025.
In late 2025, PCA closed down corrugated packaging facilities in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Salisbury, North Carolina, on 1 December and 19 December, respectively. The closures impacted 168 jobs.
