Russian Taiga Group will acquire 100 per cent of Karelia Pulp, according to Lesprom. The aim is to expand paper and packaging business.
The Karelia Pulp company is one of Russia’s largest pulp producers. It operates the Kondopoga Pulp and Paper Mill in the Republic of Karelia.
Taiga LLC specializes in the production of high–quality softwood lumber. The main activity of the enterprise is logging and further processing of wood, according to WoodResource.
In 2021, the Karelia Pulp company invested around 50 billion rubles (US$679 million) in the modernization of the Kondopoga Pulp and Paper Mill in the Republic of Karelia in order to allow the reorientation of the enterprise from the main production of newsprint to the production of packaging cardboard.
