Swiss newsprint producer Perlen Papier AG will cut 60 jobs by the end of this year as part of its ongoing restructuring. The number is slightly lower than the 65 positions originally announced on 11 August, EUWID reports.
Paper production will not be affected by the reduction and that both paper machines will remain in operation, according to the company. Perlen Papier says that it "deeply regrets” the consequences of the measures and will provide affected employees with support.
Perlen Papier has a capacity to produce 360,000 tpy of newprint and 200,000 tpy of LWC paper. The company operates two publication paper machines at the paper mill in Perlen, Switzerland.
In February 2025, Perlen Papier said that it would seek a 8-10 per cent price increase on all newsprint deliveries, citing an unsatisfactory earnings situation amid high energy and raw materials costs as the reason for the announced newsprint price hike.
