U.S. industry body reports lower printint-writing paper shipments

Shipments down The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) has published its Printing-Writing Monthly report for January 2024, stating that the country’s total printing-writing paper shipments dropped by 9 percent last month compared with January 2023.

 

“U.S. purchases of total printing-writing papers decreased 19% in December 2023 compared to the same month in 2022. Total printing-writing paper inventory levels decreased 1% when compared to December 2023,” the industry body said in a statement accompanying the release of the report.

 

“Individually, U.S. shipments in all 3 major P-W categories (UFS, CFS and MECH) decreased in January compared to the same period last year. Uncoated Free Sheet shipments decreased 3%, Coated Free Sheet shipments decreased 12%, and Mechanical papers shipments decreased 35%,” according to the American association
