US containerboard production rose 7 % in April 2020

The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) has released its April 2020 Containerboard Monthly report. According to the report, total containerboard production in April increased seven percent compared to April 2019. It was up seven percent when compared to the same four months of 2019.

April 2020 production of containerboard for export increased 29 percent compared to the same month last year; it was up 41 percent year-to-date.

The containerboard operating rate was 95.9 percent, up 5.2 points from April 2019 and up 5.6 points year-to-date.

Mill inventories of containerboard at the end of April decreased 19,000 short tons from the previous month, and were up 28,000 short tons compared to April 2019.
