US packaging papers & specialty packaging shipments up 5% in April

U.S. packaging papers & specialty packaging shipments in April 2020 increased 5%, compared to April 2019. They were up 3% when compared to the same four months of 2019, according to the American Forest & Paper Association.

 

The operating rate was 89.1%, up 1.4 points from April 2019 and down 1.3 points year-to-date.

 

Mill inventories at the end of April decreased 1,000 short tons from the previous month, and were down 3,000 short tons compared to April 2019.
