An explosion occured earlier today at Stora Enso Skoghall, Sweden.  Subsequently, the mill has reduced production and the board machines run now at half speed. The explosion hit the boiler, and the cause is supposed to be a water leak.

A replacement boiler is expected to be in operation within two weeks, according to Risi.

- A failure is of course expensive. But we have a insurance that covers both property damage and business disruption, paid plant manager Carl-Johan Albinsson according to Swedish Radio P4.

No injuries have been reported. The Skoghall plant has a capacity of 725,000 tonnes of cardboard per year.
