Empack 2017, the UK’s leading packaging technology event, takes place at Birmingham’s NEC, on 1 & 2 March 2017. The show will feature suppliers displaying the latest innovations in logistics, transit and industrial packaging, packaging machinery, robotics and automation.

Automated Packaging Systems will be launching FastWrap, which produces honeycomb bubbles and tubes on-demand for wrapping, interleaving and block-and-brace applications. Visitors will also be able to see its AirPouch Express 3 void fill systems, which produce ultra-lightweight cushions that reduce shipping and disposal costs. These feature EZ-Tear™ perforations to increase productivity and reduce risk of repetitive strain injury.

Fischbein Saxon’s bag sealers are popular in the animal feed, flour and pet food industries, where thick, multi wall, and gusseted bags are used. At Empack it will showcase bag sealers which address several production issues. These include the Sh1000 Air evacuation sealer, which tackles ballooning bags, a potential problem when palletising. Fischbein Saxon also has the TTS500 Table Top Sealer which is ideal for low to medium packing projects such as new, smaller product lines, where capital expenditure needs to be kept to a minimum. For higher grade packing lines, with complex bag structures, the company’s Tape Over Sealer offers a dual sealing capability to reduce bag leakage.

Advanced Dynamics is a specialist supplier of feeding, counting wrapping and labelling equipment for flat products. At Empack it will be showing how, with the introduction of its Pack Leader range of labelling equipment, it now has systems ranging from its entry level table top ELF machines to the advanced PRO range, capable of dealing with the most demanding applications on all types of products including plastic and glass bottles, trigger sprays, tapered buckets, plastic food packs and vials.

Herma UK’s labelling product range includes simple manual dispensers through to tailor-made solutions for individual high-tech labelling tasks. It will be showcasing its Tamper Evident Labeller which has been developed to meet the requirements of the Falsified Medicine Directive 2011/62/EU. The labeller prints a unique 2D code and serial number to each carton. A vision system verifies and stores the codes. A tamper evident label is applied to each side of the pack and the secure packs exit the machine sealed with a unique identify. This means the product can then be traced at any point during the supply chain.

PFM Packaging Machinery Ltd will exhibit its portfolio of horizontal, vertical form fill seal machinery and multi head weighers. These include its PFM Pearl Flowrapper which is ideal for start-ups and smaller businesses in the bakery, confectionery and produce sectors.

Those looking for pouches will want to see the company’s D-Series which through an exclusive design and construction, offers a new working concept in horizontal form fill seal machinery.

Atwell Self-Adhesive Labellers’ latest “Linerless” ‘print and apply’, label application systems provide an environmentally friendly alternative to standard self-adhesive labelling systems. This is because they offer zero wastage of label paper, no backing paper and ribbons to dispose of at landfill sites, 60% more labels on a reel so increased line efficiencies and a material saving of up to 30% compared to standard ‘print and apply’ labels.

Penn Packaging will share the full range of primary and secondary packaging equipment from its European partners. such as wrap-around tray or case packers, shrink wrapping systems, palletisers, depalletisers and pouch packing solutions.

Martek Industries, an independent distributor of coding and labelling systems will be showing the Valentin DuoPrint 2-Colour Label Printer which is specifically designed for printing GHS chemical labels in 2 colours simultaneously. Also on its stand will be the Flexacode Handheld Inkjet Printer, which is fully portable and allows for printing text, logos, barcodes and 2D codes onto porous or non-porous materials. It will also display its NiceLabel label design and print management software, suitable for use with all brands of label printers and office printers.

Alderney Race will use Empack to display the Henry Molded ‘Wine Paks’ which cushion wine bottles in cartons, and the Henry ‘Stakker’ Roll Cradles, which enable vertical stacking on pallets.
