Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill has installed new industrial cranes at its cardboard production facility in Ukraine. The investment is aimed at increasing capacity and improving material handling within the plant.
The cranes, supplied by Konecranes, have a lifting capacity of 20 tonnes and have been installed at the first cardboard production line.
New cranes increase production capacity
With the upgrade, the weight of reels removed from production can be increased from 12 tonnes to 20 tonnes.
More efficient logistics in production
The higher lifting capacity allows larger reels to be handled directly within the production flow. This can reduce the number of handling steps and improve internal logistics efficiency.
Material handling plays a key role in industrial productivity. Larger units can reduce the need for splitting and reloading, which in turn may lower costs and shorten lead times.
At the same time, handling heavier reels places higher demands on equipment reliability and safety systems, particularly in facilities operating continuous production processes.
Part of a wider European industrial group
Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill is one of the largest producers of cardboard and paper products in Europe. The company is part of the Austrian group Pulp Mill Holding.
The investment comes at a time when industrial activity in Ukraine continues to face uncertainty. Nevertheless, the project highlights how some companies are proceeding with technical upgrades to maintain and strengthen their competitiveness.
