ProJet, Meerssen, Netherlands have successfully started up 2 High Pressure Water Jet Tail Cutters each at 2 paper mills in India: Bindals Papers and Silverton Paper. Both paper mills are located in Muzaffarnagar, India.

The commissioning was completely done remotely, by means of Teams and Team Viewer. Following detailed studies of the paper machines, detailed task planning for each department involved, numerous checks on all safety aspects, ProJet’s expertise helped the mills teams to complete the commissioning in just a couple of hours. The mills engineers conducted a number of installations, hardware and I/O checks, after which start-up was just “plug and play”, thanks to the user-friendly ProJet system, according to both start-up teams.

The ProJet High Pressure Tail Cutters were equipped with redundant pumps and redundant nozzles guaranteeing the highest availability of the system. Pressure used is up to 500bar (8,000psi) and the Tail Width is adjustable from 20-300mm (0.8-12 in.)

The ProJet HP Tail Cutters generate a 100% reliable clean cut, guaranteeing maximum reliability of Tail Threading. One Tail Cutter will be installed before the Size Press and the second before the reel at the end of the machine.

Water-jet nozzles have ruby tips, with typical sizes between 0.05-0.60mm. Customers that have these High Pressure Tail Cutters installed, immediately notice the reduction in dirt and dust build up in the cutting area, which A. Leads to a cleaner and healthier working environment for operators and B. Maximizes reliability of the Tail Cutting and Tail Threading procedure on a paper machine. No vacuum or dust bag are required.
