International Paper informed its customers that it is considering to potentially discontinue newsprint production at its Kwidzyn mill in Poland, according to Euwid.

Due to fast declining demand and significant oversupply in the newsprint market, it intends to focus PM 3 at the plant on more attractive segments.

The step would remove part of the machine's 115.000 tpy output capacity for newsprint from the market which has not been used for producing packaging paper. The PM has also been producing sack kraft paper from primary fiber.
