Archroma, a global leader in color and specialty chemicals towards sustainable solutions, will be at Paperex 2019 to present its latest innovations and solution systems aimed to help packaging & paper manufacturers to optimize productivity and/or create value in their markets.

Archroma provides expertise in the management of whiteness, coloration, special coatings and strength for all kinds of packaging and papers. The company offers a focused product range, as well as application services from its paper experts around the globe to enhance both the optical and functional properties of packaging, paper and tissue.

In July 2019, Archroma announced its intention to acquire BASF’s stilbene-based optical brightening agent (OBA) business for paper and powder detergent applications. The transaction, which is expected to close by year-end, includes BASF’s manufacturing unit at Ankleshwar, India, where approximately 100 people are currently employed.

Archroma is reputed for its continuous flow of ground-breaking innovations, such as, most recently, Cartastrength® DST.03, an efficient dry strength liquid additive for stronger packaging and tissue papers and improved stickies management during the production process; Leucophor® AFCN liq, an optical brightening agent specially designed for food packaging and paper, and approved for food contact by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA); or Leucophor® MT liq, a new tetrasulfonated OBA modified to give high whiteness performance in surface applications.

At Paperex, visitors will be able to discover four solution systems specifically developed for packaging & paper applications along the principles of The Archroma Way: Safe, efficient, enhanced:

• Bright N’ Safe, a system that brings together high whiteness and brightness with food safety for FDA compliant packaging, with improved control and reduced slowdowns in production; • Hold Tight, a system for improved fiber retention and bonding, to create paper that performs cycle after cycle - and to conserve our forests; • Print It Brite, a system that makes our paper whiter and brighter, our prints sharper and more vibrant, and the production more efficient;

• Smart White, a system to optimize production even at the highest whiteness level for high quality paper, and less resource usage.

Each system combines carefully selected technologies and innovations, aiming to optimize productivity, reduce resource usage, create value – or all of the above.

The approach finds its origin in Archroma’s deep belief that it is possible to make the packaging & paper industry sustainable. For further information: https://www.archroma.com/the-archroma-way.
