Norske Skog leaves Brazil

According to Euwid Pulp and Paper, Norske Skog will exit the South American paper market. The company announces that its remaining stake in the Pisa newsprint mill will be sold to Chilean Papeles Bio Bio.

The value of the transaction is $37m, according to Norske Skog. Norske Skog had already sold 51 % of the shares in the Pisa mill to the Chilean paper producer in June 2013 for $41.3m.

The Pisa mill is one of four newsprint production plants in South America. It has a capacity of 185,000 tpy.
