Hungarian manufacturer Forest-Papír Kft has opened a new paper processing plant in Lábatlan, in northern Hungary. The investment is worth some HUF 2.5 billion ($11.4 million).

Construction works at the plant, which has a production space of 6,800 square metres, were started in November 2012. Forest-Papír is aiming to create between 20 and 40 new jobs at its new factory.

With the latest investment, the output capacity of the Hungarian manufacturer is to grow as much as 150% from the current 20,000 tonnes of toilet paper and kitchen towels per year.

The official opening ceremony of the production facility was attended by Hungarian Minister of State for Infrastructure Pál Völner, the ministry said in a statement.

The investment in Lábatlan was co-financed by a HUF 812.8 million ($3.7 million) grant obtained from the European Union under the New Széchenyi Plan, covering close to one-third of the project.

Set up in 1994, the Hungarian manufacturer is based in Lábatlan. Forest-Papír’s product portfolio includes toilet paper, kitchen towels, handkerchiefs, napkins as well as other paper products, according to data from the manufacturer. In addition to the Hungarian market, Forest-Papír says it exports its products to 14 countries.
