Romania’s cardboard consumption rose to 322,000 tonnes in 2015, an increase of 13% compared with a year earlier, according to data from local industry association ARFCO.
With local demand for cardboard expanding, Romanian manufactur-ers are considering to raise their output capacities, reports local busi-ness daily Ziarul Financiar. Currently, Romania-based cardboard pro-ducers are enabled with a total capacity of about 723,000 tonnes per year. Of this, about 55% is intended for export sales, mostly to other European Union member states.
In 2016, Romania’s demand for cardboard is expected to continue its growth, local observers say.
