DS Smith is closing its Wansbrough paper mill in Watchet in the county of Somerset, England, on December 23, according to Euwid.

DS Smith earlier this year released the following statement to a local newspaper, the Bridgewater Mercury: "Following a review of the long term economic outlook for the Wansbrough paper mill, today we announced to employees at the mill that we are proposing to close Wansbrough Mill and are entering a period of consultation with employee representatives. The process will take into account all possible options for the future of the site.”

Wansbrough mill operates two paper machines — PM1 and PM5. They manufacture roughly 90,000 tonnes of testliner III, 30,000 tonnes of coreboard, 18,000 tonnes of recycled paper for bags, 12,000 tonnes of recycled envelope paper, and 10,000 tonnes of other products such as plasterboard.
