Increased demand for sheeted paper

The past few years have seen a steady rise in demand for sheeted paper. Naturally, Holmen Paper is ready to meet its customers’ needs, offering both flexibility and high capacity with the help of partners in a number of locations across Europe.

When it comes to sheeted paper the main focus remains on Holmen BOOK, a paper specifically developed for the printing of books, but other Holmen products are also available in sheeted form. With sheets being ideal for printing smaller runs, more and more people outside of book printing are discovering the possibilities of sheeted paper.

“Sheets create opportunities for other products and printing methods. Digital printing, for example, is increasing all the time and since this tends to involve smaller print runs, sheets offer an extremely good solution,” says Karolina Svensson, sales manager for the book segment at Holmen Paper, who also mentions offset as a growing ‘sheet sector’ for the same reason.

The sheeting is currently carried out with the help of partners at ultramodern converting plants located in a number of European countries.

“We’ve been selling large quantities of Holmen BOOK sheets in Poland and other Eastern European countries for a long time, so an external converter on the ground in Poland was an obvious choice early on. We’ve entered into several other partnerships in recent years, and we’re developing the sheet concept as demand rises,” explains Karolina.

All the converting plants offer high capacity and flexibility, with the administration side of things largely handled by the nearest sales office. This arrangement enables Holmen Paper to offer its customers the best possible service.

It works really well and our customers are very happy. Those who buy sheets usually order small amounts of paper, sometimes of different grades, which is sheeted by our converter and then sent directly to the customer,” concludes Karolina Svensson, who is pleased to be able to meet the market’s growing demand with a smooth and efficient sheeted paper concept.
