The Award, which is given to successful solutions already in production, will most certainly achieve its goal again in its 15th year: to demonstrate to a wide audience that the sustainable packaging material cartonboard is both highly creative and can be used in a large number of applications. Awards will be given to the best solutions in eleven categories and published throughout Europe. The category confectionery will be highly exciting – that much can be said already without giving anything away.

The jury certainly appreciated the large number of entries, especially the wide spectrum of form and details in superb quality. For the first time ever, this year will also see a finalist in the field of sustainability. Satkar Gidda, of the London-based design agency SiebertHead and chairman of the jury, was not surprised: "More and more brand owners are attempting to improve their sustainability parameters – they will be looking increasingly at cartonboard as a solution."

As always, the jury spans the entire supply chain: • Design: Satkar Gidda, Sales and Marketing Director at SiebertHead Design, London• Branded goods industry: Pascal van Beek, Supply Management Director Europe Packaging, Unilever Supply Chain Company, Switzerland• Retail trade: Andreas Nolte, owner of several Edeka supermarkets in the Wiesbaden area• Packaging industry: special advisor to the jury, Peter Klein Sprokkelhorst, consultant to the packaging industry

The years 2011 and 2012 will see an extension of the competition: since last year all partners in the supply chain involved with a prize-winning entry were awarded a prize, and as of 2011 all the finalists will also receive a certificate.
