Mondi to invest €67m at Štětí mill, Czech Republic
Mondi will further increase kraft paper capacity at Štětí mill. When publishing the results for the 2018 financial year, Mondi announced it would invest another €67m in its Štětí mill in Czech Republic.
According to the company, continued good demand across Mondi’s range of speciality kraft papers in Europe, supported by the drive to replace plastic carrier bags with paper-based alternatives, has motivated the €67m capital investment project to convert a containerboard machine at Štětí to be fully dedicated to the production of speciality kraft paper with a mix of recycled and virgin fibre content for shopping bags applications.
The project will result in an additional 75,000 tpy of speciality kraft paper capacity while reducing our containerboard capacity by around 30,000 tpy. Start-up is expected by the end of 2020.
