Swedish Essity posts 9.1% net sales increase in 3Q
Essity's 3Q 2018 net sales increased 9.1% compared with the corresponding period a year ago to SEK 29,647 million ($3.3 billion). Profit for the 3Q declined 51% to SEK 1,078 million ($120 million). Earnings per share were SEK 1.41.
3Q adjusted operating profit before amortization of acquisition-related intangible assets (adjusted EBITA) decreased 12% to SEK 3,016 million ($335 million). Earnings were positively impacted by higher prices and a better mix in all business areas, higher volumes and cost savings amounting to SEK 180 million ($20 million). Adjusted profit before tax declined 17% to SEK 2,497 million ($277 million) in the 3Q 2018.
Net sales in January–September 2018 increased 8.4% compared with the corresponding period a year ago to SEK 87,388 million ($9.7 billion). Adjusted operating profit before amortization of acquisition-related intangible assets (adjusted EBITA) declined 3% to SEK 9,484 million ($1 billion).
Profit decreased 14% to SEK 4,935 million ($548 million) in January–September 2018. Earnings per share were SEK 6.38.
Adjusted profit for the period decreased 7% to SEK 5,934 million ($659 million).
