DS Smith to acquire Romanian paper, cardboard packaging producers

DS Smith has agreed to acquire two Romanian paper and cardboard packaging makers, EcoPack and EcoPaper, for a total of about €208 million.
The two companies are part of a leading integrated packaging and paper group in Romania that was previously family-owned for many years.
"The business includes both high quality packaging assets as well as a new paper machine, built in 2017, that specialises in high quali-ty, light-weight paper, which is particularly well-suited to supporting our performance packaging solutions," DS Smith said in a state-ment.
The deal is subject to the approval of Romania’s competition watch-dog Competition Council.
