The Social Democratic Party of Montene-gro (SDP) has asked the country’s government and municipal author-ities to form a commission that would put the paper and cellulose plant Fabrika celuloze i papira on sale.

The formerly state-owned factory was privatised in 1997 when local company Tigoimpeks bought it from the Montenegrin Treasury for about €1 million, reports local daily Dan. However, the plant’s finan-cial woes have forced it to cease production. The government took control over the plant which currently owes some €380,000 to the Montenegrin Ministry of Finance.
